Often yes for interior parts, but not always. The F30 saloon and F31 Touring share much of the front of the car and the interior, while the rear body, tailgate and some trim differ. The facelift (LCI, around 2015) changed some lights, buttons and electronics, so always check the part against your car's year.
Are BMW F30 and F31 parts interchangeable?
Partly. The F30 saloon ran from about 2011 to 2019 and the F31 Touring from about 2012 to 2019. Both are 3 Series cars on the same platform. Front end, dashboard, centre console and most front interior parts are shared. Anything that touches the rear body is not.
The fitment rule is simple. If the part sits in the front half of the car or in the cabin, it is likely shared. If it sits behind the rear doors, expect a difference.
Which interior parts fit both sedan and Touring?
These usually carry across, subject to year and trim level:
| Part type | Likely shared F30 and F31? | Check |
|---|---|---|
| Front door pulls and trim | Usually | Left or right, and LHD or RHD |
| Dashboard and centre console trim | Usually | Pre-LCI or LCI, and options |
| Gear knob and gear selector trim | Usually | Manual or automatic |
| Cup holder inserts | Usually | Console layout |
| Floor mats | Front often, rear varies | Rear floor and load area differ |
| Rear door and boot trim | Often differs | Body style |
| Buttons and switches | Depends | LCI changes, see below |
Treat the table as a guide, not a promise. The listing for each part names the chassis it fits. That list is what counts.
Which exterior parts differ between F30 and F31?
The front end is closely related, so grilles, front mirrors and many front bumper parts can carry over. For example, our dual kidney grilles for F30, F31 and F35 are listed for three body styles together, and the mirror cover caps are listed across several chassis.
The rear is where they split. The F31 has a tailgate, a roof line and rear glass that the saloon does not share. Boot lids, rear bumper parts, taillights, rear spoilers and rear diffusers need a listing for your exact body. A saloon boot spoiler will not suit a Touring.
Do F34 GT and F35 parts fit an F30?
Sometimes, but be careful. The F34 Gran Turismo (about 2013 to 2020) is a taller, longer car with a different roof, rear doors and rear end. The F35 is the long-wheelbase saloon sold mainly in some markets (about 2012 to 2019). Both share a lot of front-end and cabin design with the F30, so some parts overlap. Rear doors, rear trim and body panels usually do not.
Our F34 GT collection lists parts for that car. A part listed only for the F34 should not be assumed to fit a saloon.
How does the 2016 LCI change what fits?
The facelift, called LCI, brought updated lights, bumpers and some electronics. Our chassis reference puts the F30 LCI at around 2015, and BMW built cars in transition for some months, so a car's registration year may not match its build date. Check the production date on your car.
Things most likely to differ between pre-LCI and LCI cars:
- Headlights and taillights, including the light signature and connectors.
- Front and rear bumpers.
- Buttons, switches and climate control layouts.
- iDrive, head unit and wiring.
Anything electronic, or with a plug, deserves extra care. Have a professional handle wiring and coding.
How do I confirm fitment before ordering?
- Note your exact body: saloon F30, Touring F31, GT F34 or long-wheelbase F35.
- Note whether the car is pre-LCI or LCI, and its build date.
- Note left or right hand drive, and options such as M Sport.
- Read the fitment table on the product page and match every line.
- If still unsure, use our find your chassis page or browse the 3 Series F30, F31 and F80 collection.
If a part does not fit the car shown in its fitment table, our fit guarantee covers a replacement or refund.
FAQ
Will an F30 front bumper fit an F31?
Usually the front end is closely related, but trim level, M Sport packages and LCI differences matter. Match the listing to your car.
Do F30 taillights fit the F31 Touring?
No. The Touring has different rear lights fitted into the tailgate and body. Buy for your body style.
Are F30 and F31 door pulls the same?
The front door pulls are generally the same design. Check front or rear, left or right, and the listing.
How can I find my build date?
Look at the sticker in the driver's door shut or ask a BMW dealer to decode the VIN. Exact method varies by market.
