About this part
Peeling, sticky or worn-blank climate control buttons are a known issue on the BMW 5, 6 and 7 Series of the F-generation. BMW acknowledged it in Service Information SI B64 01 13, which links the soft-touch coating peeling to contact with products such as sunscreen and hand lotion. This kit replaces every button cap on the panel with a fresh gloss-black set, so the panel looks new again. You don't replace the climate control unit, and you don't need to remove the centre console.
Which kit do I need?
Count every button on your climate panel, including the small ones at each end of both rows, then choose the matching layout. The product photos show each layout next to its cap set.

The layout depends on your car's options, such as seat heating, seat ventilation and multi-zone climate, not only on the model. Two F10s from the same year can have different panels. Check before ordering: not for the 5 Series Gran Turismo (F07), X5 (F15) or X6 (F16). This is an aftermarket alternative to BMW's genuine button-cap repair kits, such as 61319313923 (up to 07/2012) and 61316848885 / 61316848887 (later cars). It fits the front climate panel only.

Fitting
- Time: about 5-10 minutes
- Tools: none needed; a plastic trim tool helps with stubborn caps
- How: ease each old cap off its switch, then press the new cap on until it clicks. Work one button at a time so each symbol goes back in the right place.
FAQ
Do I need to remove the climate control unit?
No. The caps come off the front of the panel, and BMW's own repair procedure for this problem doesn't require removing the console.
Does it fit the 5 Series Gran Turismo (F07)?
No. A customer with a 2012 535i GT (F07) found the caps didn't fit their panel, so we no longer list the F07.
Will the symbols light up at night?
These are replacement caps with printed symbols. Check the product photos for how the symbols look. If backlit symbols matter to you, email us before ordering.
What if it doesn't match my panel?
If the set doesn't match the layout you chose from the table above, we'll replace or refund it. See our returns policy.
Does it fit the X5 F15 or X6 F16?
This set isn't listed for the X5/X6. Their panels differ, so we don't recommend it for those models.
