Most 4 Series owners start with gloss black kidney grilles, gloss black mirror caps and a boot spoiler, then add a front lip. At the time of writing, mirror caps start from around €55, boot spoilers from around €90, grilles from around €140 and lips from around €160, so a first round of exterior styling usually lands between €300 and €500 in parts. Interior touches start from around €10.
Everything here comes from our BMW 4 Series G22, G23 and G26 parts range. Many parts fit only one body style, so check which car you have before you order.
Which 4 Series do you have?
This generation has three body codes. G22 is the two-door coupé, G23 is the convertible and G26 is the five-door Gran Coupé. The electric i4 shares the G26 body, so Gran Coupé parts are usually the ones to look at for an i4, but always check that the listing names it. The M4 is a separate car (G82 and G83) with its own bumpers. If you are not sure of your code, read how to find your BMW chassis code.
The coupé and convertible share their front end, so a G22 grille or lip normally suits a G23 too. The Gran Coupé has its own panels, and grilles, lips and spoilers for it are listed separately, so only order G26 parts for one. The convertible has a different boot lid from the coupé, so the coupé spoilers here are for the G22 only.
The facelift (LCI) arrived in 2024 with revised lights and bumpers. Many parts on our shelves list a year range that stops before it, so compare the years in each listing with your registration date. Our LCI vs pre-LCI explainer covers how to tell them apart.
Finally, the bumper type. M Sport cars have different front and rear bumpers from the standard trims, and most lips, diffusers and side skirt extensions for this car are shaped for the M Sport bumper. Grilles and mirror caps do not depend on it.
Grilles, mirror caps and spoilers
These swap chrome or body colour trim for gloss black, with no cutting involved.
Kidney grilles
The large kidney grille on this generation divides opinion, and a gloss black version tones it down. For the coupé and convertible, our gloss black G22 and G23 kidney grilles ship from the EU. For the Gran Coupé, choose the G26 grilles with an ACC cut-out if your car has adaptive cruise control. Check this before ordering, as a grille without the cut-out will not suit a car with the sensor. Fitting means removing the old grille from the bumper and clipping the new one in.
Mirror caps
Mirror caps clip over or replace the outer mirror shells. The EU stocked gloss black mirror caps are the simplest choice. If you want a carbon pattern, the mirror caps in gloss black or carbon look are offered in both finishes; carbon look is a printed finish, not real carbon. Check whether your mirrors have the camera for the surround view system, and whether you need left or right hand drive parts.
Boot spoilers
A small boot lid spoiler adds a lot for the money. For the coupé there is an M4 style gloss black spoiler for the G22, and for the Gran Coupé an M Performance style spoiler for the G26. Most stick on with pre-applied tape. Clean the boot lid with alcohol, do a dry fit and mark the position with masking tape before peeling the backing.
Lips, diffusers and side skirts
Check the bumper type first, as this is where most wrong orders come from.
For the coupé and convertible, the gloss black front lip for the G22 and G23 fits along the lower edge of the front bumper. The Gran Coupé has its own G26 front lip. At the rear, the M440i style rear diffuser fits the lower part of the G22 and G23 rear bumper; check the listing for the bumper it suits. Our view: add side skirt extensions only once the lip is on, so the line along the car matches.
Fitting a lip or skirt involves drilling a few small holes in the underside of the bumper or sill, so treat these as semi-permanent. A low lip will also catch on steep ramps and kerbs.
Lighting
Sequential indicators replace the standard mirror indicators with a sweeping light. The sequential LED mirror indicators are a plug in swap: the mirror glass comes out and the indicator unit unclips. Check local rules on indicator patterns before fitting.
Inside, later cars with the curved display can take a dashboard ambient light strip listed for 2023 to 2025 cars. It needs a trim panel or two removed and a power connection, so it suits a careful home fitter or an auto electrician.
Interior trim and small accessories
This is still a young car, so the interior parts here are about personal touches and storage rather than repairs.
- A crystal start button cover fits over the original button and takes a few minutes.
- A suede gear panel cover sticks over the trim around the selector and hides light scratches.
- An armrest storage box drops into the centre armrest and splits the space into usable trays.
- A wireless charging phone mount for 2023 to 2025 cars holds your phone near the screen.
Before ordering any interior part, check the year range and whether your car has the older dashboard or the curved display, as the console and vents changed with it. Check left or right hand drive too.

Where to start
- Mirror caps. Cheap, quick and fully reversible.
- Kidney grilles. The biggest change to the front for the money.

FAQ
Do G22 parts fit the i4?
Mostly not. The i4 is based on the Gran Coupé, so look for G26 parts and check that the listing mentions the i4, as some of its front parts differ from the petrol and diesel Gran Coupé.
Will a G22 front lip fit a G23 convertible?
Usually yes, as the coupé and convertible share the front bumper. The lip still needs to match your bumper type, so check whether your car is M Sport.
Do I need a grille with an ACC cut-out?
Only if your car has adaptive cruise control with a sensor behind the grille area. If it does, order the cut-out version so the sensor is not blocked.
Can I fit a boot spoiler myself?
Yes. Most are taped on, so the work is cleaning, positioning and pressing it down. Measure from both edges and mark the position before you peel the tape.
