BMW 5 Series F10 / F11 (2010-2017)

The best-documented wear point on the F10 is the climate control panel. BMW Service Information SI B64 01 13 describes climate buttons that peel, and names ingredients in skin-care products, including sunscreen and hand lotion, as the cause. Replacement button caps fix it without removing the centre console; our guide explains how. Worn steering-wheel and start/stop buttons are other common complaints on older F-series cars.

How to check fitment: the F10 was facelifted (LCI) in 2013, and lights and bumpers differ between the two versions. Climate panels come in 11-, 12- and 14-button layouts depending on options such as seat heating, seat ventilation and multi-zone climate control, so count the buttons on your panel before ordering a kit.
