The F30 has one well-known weak point: the soft-touch coating around the iDrive controller and gear selector can peel or turn sticky with age. Cleaning helps only for a while; replacing the worn cover with a hard ABS part is the lasting fix. Worn gear-selector covers and a worn "P" button are also common on high-mileage cars. You will find these parts in worn interior fixes.

How to check fitment: the F30 was facelifted (LCI) in 2015. Lights, bumpers and some trim differ between pre-LCI and LCI cars, so check which version each part suits. The production date is a better guide than the registration date, because a car can be registered months after it was built. Door-side parts, dashboard trim and switches can also differ between left-hand-drive and right-hand-drive cars; choose the drive side where a part offers it. Not sure?
